The hair color and henna tattoos are nice! Very striking!
I love the gold colors in her make-up and hair. She looks at peace!
I’ve forgotten what kind of tattoos these were. Thanks Marvalus. I don’t think they’re the real deal and of the permanent kind though. I’ve seen the model in other pics with bare hands/arms. I think the lighting is amazing…..almost as if she was made of solid goal. OK , I realize that this is maybe a bit of an exaggeration LOL
Her hair was super orange that day. This shot was one of a set of test shots that just came out totally hot. In the original you can actually see the carpet in the background, front door, shoes, etc. Her hair in the original wasn’t well lit but the gold tones still came through. I lightened her hair in this photo and the gold tones really came out!
The henna was done by two family members of the folks that watch my kids. The young lady that did this application just has a natural talent for it and banged out these designs in no time flat. What you see in this photo is actually the henna paste; it’s actually green.

This application lasted around a week, if that long. Typically the paste is applied, dries, then you soak your skin in sugar water (not sure how long) to make the ink set for a long time. Six weeks I think she said. Hind sight being 20/20 I’d wish we’d done her shoulders too.
I used a type of flash that’s typically used for macro photography but I found that it works great for portraits. The flash sits on the end of the lens.
We’ll be doing this or something similar again. She has let her hair grow out and it’s now a good sized orangish afro. I can’t wait!
